Role Responsibilities
People Leadership
• Supports hiring efforts by identifying, scheduling, and assisting with interviews for potential teaching candidates; builds a pipeline of future talent.
• Conducts classroom observations and evaluations, offering feedback that motivates, supports growth, and enhances teaching quality.
• Helps lead the team in implementing First Chapter Academy’s curriculum in alignment with our standards and educational philosophy.
• Uses a growth mindset to coach, mentor, and develop staff for long-term success.
• Actively listens to employee concerns and collaborates on thoughtful solutions and action plans.
• Develops and communicates weekly staff schedules, ensuring proper classroom coverage.
• Assists in maintaining appropriate classroom ratios on a daily basis.
• Supports new hire onboarding and maintains accurate, up-to-date employee files in accordance with state licensing regulations.
• Helps manage center-wide scheduling to maintain compliance with ratios and labor budgeting requirements.

Customer Focus
• Leads engaging and informative tours for prospective families, highlighting what makes First Chapter Academy special—from our curriculum to our dedicated teaching team.
• Maintains regular communication with families about their child’s progress, growth, and daily experiences.
• Oversees the delivery of “parent pleasers” and other center events, including Show and Tell, to strengthen family engagement.
• Performs regular audits to ensure all student and staff records are current and compliant.
• Ensures the physical environment and health/safety standards meet all local and state licensing regulations.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with state licensing representatives and participates in center inspections.
• Handles incident/accident reporting and documentation with accuracy and professionalism.
• Manages medication administration in accordance with state guidelines.
• Conducts monthly safety and emergency preparedness drills.
• Ensures all new student files and enrollment paperwork are accurately completed and meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 1 year of assistant leadership or management experience in a childcare or early education center (2+ years preferred)
• Professional teaching experience with children from infancy through preschool is required
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is highly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of state childcare licensing requirements
• CPR and First Aid certification is strongly preferred
• Must meet all state-specific qualifications for the role
